PTO lends a collective voice to children where they need to be heard: at home and school; in urban, rural, and suburban communities; and in our nation's capital. PTO is committed to the safety, well-being, and education of all children. Even if you do not have the time to attend PTA meetings or volunteer to serve on a committee, your membership dues provide your school’s PTO with necessary funds and strength of many voices at the council, state and national levels. It is one small, but important, way that every parent can be involved.
Research has shown that academic achievement among students is higher in schools with active PTO’s than in schools without these associations. Schools are challenged to provide every child with the best education possible despite the limitations of tight budgets and government requirements. Schools are expected to do more with less. PTO helps bridge that gap.
Why should you join PTO? To be involved in your child’s education, know what is going on at school, get to know the administration and staff, have a say in what happens at your school, be a positive role model for your child, interact with other parents, help keep our students safe, enhance the academic environment at TPS, and gain a better understanding of our school system. Joining PTO also entitles you to membership in the Oklahoma and National PTOs.
